TYPES OF FOOTBALL

TYPES OF FOOTBALL

Probably the most popular version of football in the U.S., it started as a combination of soccer and rugby played by college students, particularly in Ivy League schools. This game has its roots in England and evolved into an American sport that gained more popularity after World War II.

Rules and Gameplay:

3. Canadian Football

Overview: Canadian football is similar to American but has some distinctive features that make it unique; for instance unlike Americans who have college based games played at high school level, Canadians start playing their version right after middle school upwards with no age limit on players.

Rules and Gameplay: The basic differences include field length which is longer than that used by Americans therefore allowing more space for running backs and receivers because passing plays are commoner than running ones here as well unlike north where rushing plays dominate this could be due because there are fewer teams here hence teams can’t afford overly physical play styles that require significant manpower thus slowing down overall pace versus enabling speed emphasized approach based on skill fewest possessions.
